Instructor: Dr. Issam Eido

Assistant Professor of Religious Studies and Director of Undergraduate Studies of Islamic Studies at the Department of Religious Studies, Vanderbilt University. A fellow of MESA Global Academy Scholar 2020-2022. A former Visiting Professor of Islamic Studies and Arabic at the University of Chicago Divinity School (2013-2015). Eido served as a lecturer in the faculty of Islamic Studies at the University of Damascus 2010-2012. His thesis focused on hadith scholars and their criteria of hadith criticism. He is one of the prominent students of shaykh muhaddith Nur al-Din ‘itr. He received ijazas from the four prominent Hanafi and hadith scholars of Aleppo: Abdullah Siraj al-Din, ‘Abdulfattah Abu Ghudda, Nur al-Din ‘itr and Muhammad ‘Awwama.
